AMIN GULGEE PRESENTS RIWHYTI: ONE NIGHT STAND AN EVENING OF PERFORMANCE ART


Amin Gulgee Gallery presents a Collateral Event of the Fourth ASNA Clay Triennial on Tuesday 15th January 2013. (RIWHYTI: ONE NIGHT STAND AN EVENING OF PERFORMANCE ART)


The Amin Gulgee Gallery, a non-profit space, is a venue for large-scale exhibitions of artists from Pakistan and abroad. The Amin Gulgee Gallery hosts the exhibition and offer Pakistani viewers a thoughtful and organized survey of major trends in Pakistani art over the past half century.  

Mr Gulgee is an artist to watch both for the originality of his ideas and the sensuous, handsome quality of his work. Sculptor Gulgee is an innovator of tradition. His medium is metal, his inspiration the varied and rich spiritual history of his native Pakistan. He’s been very diligent and committed to his craft. His work is open to interpretation, animation and controversy.

Mr Gulgee said on the Collateral event of the Fourth ASNA Clay Triennial “performance work has been a part of my art practice. For this happening, I have included plastic artists as well as musicians, filmmakers, actors, architects and people associated with fashion. Performance is very much part of our lives in South Asia as births, marriages and deaths are all public events.”
