The collection drew inspiration from the dressing sensibilities of ladies in
the pre-World War I era. ‘Garden Party’ featured bridal ensembles designed on a
diverse array of fabrics such as chiffon, satin and organza embellished with swarovski
crystals and infused in colours such as reds, pastels and other dynamic colours
inspired by Persian carpets.
Bridal Showcase: Sadaf Malaterre
Sadaf
Malaterre made her PFDC L’Oréal Paris Bridal Week debut with an exclusive women’s
wear bridal collection that drew inspiration from butterflies, colours and
nature. Flowy, feminine and romantic fabrics such as chiffons and nets in a
diverse palette were introduced with beaten gold infused with a variety of
different colors. The collection laid emphasis on cuts and finish, featuring
bridal ensembles with decorative embellishments that fit well.
Late Evening Shows
Bridal Showcase: Fahad Hussayn
The
late evening shows began with designer Fahad Hussayn, who showcased his label’s
fall/winter 2013 bridal collection titled ‘The Great Mutiny’ at PFDC L’Oréal
Paris Bridal Week. The bridal ensembles in ‘The Great Mutiny’ portrayed a love
story from the feudal lifestyle of the landed aristocracy in Awadh. The
collection featured a range of intricate thread embroideries, metallic ribbon
work, custom casted chain embroideries paired with traditional zardozi, gota
and panni work in vintage finishes. The colour palette varied from subtle
shades of nudes & gold to a mutiny of colour with constructed cuts &
dramatic volumes that were paired with drapes and metal details. Exclusive make-up looks for Fahad Hussayn’s showcase
were created by L’Oréal Paris in collaboration with the participating Bridal
Week style teams of Maram & Aabroo and Toni&Guy – Lahore .
Bridal Showcase: Misha Lakhani
The next designer to follow was Misha
Lakhani, who showcased a bridal collection titled ‘Bohemian Heiress’ at PFDC
L'Oréal Paris Bridal Week 2013. The collection was inspired by a journey of the
designer through Ottoman Turkey, its threads of many cultures, 17th century
old Indian romanticism, jewel tones, and the bohemian heiress who
challenges convention yet loves all things traditional. The bridal collection
featured intricate designs on fabrics such as French velvet, muslin, net, gold
tissue, chiffon, georgette, brocade and karandi. Short coats were set against
long kalidars, saris draped on dresses, sheer shirts layered over lengha
cholis, kalidars, sheer saris, long coats and angharkas in gold, topaz, amber
and lapis to ivory, fawn, saffron and lime palettes. Bohemian Heiress was
meticulously crafted using techniques such as applique, vasli, zardosi, ari,
marori, block-printing, gota and devore.
Bridal Showcase: Sonia Azhar
Sonia Azhar’s
bridal week collection for PFDC L’Oréal Paris Bridal Week 2013 was titled
‘Divine Unison’. The collection drew inspiration from the ‘Woman’ herself,
particularly the bride who in this role takes on an angelic form of holiness
and unearthliness. ‘Divine Unison’ featured an amalgamation of different
fabrics which enhanced the textured surfaces of the ensembles, further
embellished through stone and thread work. Structured cuts, varied lengths,
lesser volume and more linear lines in purple hues were seen that progressed to
whites, peaches and emerald greens.

poured prowess like an empress, aptly demonstrative of the colours of the
sub-continent. ‘Jaageer’ featured heirloom pieces, where each piece dug in to
