KARACHI FASHION WEEK (KFW) 4TH EDITION 2013

The Karachi Fashion Week was the first official Fashion Week to take place in Pakistan. In 2013 they have organized their 4^th edition a three days show held on 27-28 and 29^th January 2013 at Expo Centre Gulshan-e-Iqbal Karachi. It was remarkable show there were about 30 designers from all over the world including Malaysia, India, Nigeria and Pakistan. The top Models of Pakistan presented the designs of various designers on first, second and third day. 

 Karachi Fashion Show was a ‘By Invitation’ Fashion trade event. There were established fashion designers and retail brands. Thanks to the organizer that they have focus on the emerging designer providing them with the opportunity to showcase their talent and collection on a professional runway. This rare opportunity has given exposure to aspiring designer to debut their collection in a spectacular fashion showcase and also provide them networking opportunities with international, local buyers and media.

Karachi Fashion Week having the support of the Ministry of Textile has the potential of establishing itself as a trade event. It is evident from the lineup of big names attended the event as follows.

USMAN DITTU, GUL AHMED, MUNIB NAWAZ, SAADIA MIRZA, KHAADI, MARIA B, ASIFA AND NABIL, AHSAN HUSSAIN AND SABA LA CHANTAL.

The foreign designers showcase their dresses in the following manner:

A. DAY ONE: JOSEPH BAYO ADEGBE from NIGERIA.

B. DAY TWO: SHARIFA KIRANA from MALAYSIA.

C. DAY THREE: KARAMA from INDIA.

On the first day there was a Nigerian designer and it will be right to mention that definitely credit goes to organizer of KFW for inviting the foreign designer. Nigerian fashion representative Lexy Mojo Eyes, in Karachi commented, “There is a potential market for Pakistani fashion in Nigeria.” Now it depends upon the fashion designer and traders up to what ex tend they explore the foreign markets.

On the third and final day, Karachi Fashion Week ended with a Fashion Fiesta featuring the big names of Pakistan, at the finale of the Karachi Fashion Week, dresses of famous designers and few others are featured in the segment. We saw some of the most powerful names in the fashion both from Lahore and Karachi perked up the ramp proceedings with their vibrant collections. Above all the special guest appeared as model was none other then Shehzad Roy his presence on the ramp was welcomed by the audience.
