2012 has seen an eclectic mix of films being offered to its audiences. Bollywood has presented some very novel concepts, comebacks, sequels, and some most-awaited flicks this year to its audiences. Let us browse through the films that should have a place at the top 10 films of this year.
Vicky Donor- The film gave a new insight to Bollywood into making commercial films with an edge. It was directed by Shoojit Sircar and was produced by John Abraham. The film starred Ayushmann Khurana who played a sperm donor in the film and Yami Gautam played his love interest. Surely the film opened up the creative boundaries of all involved in filmmaking.
English Vinglish- The film marked the comeback of Sridevi but definitely was not on the same lines of films that are done by other actresses. The film was directed by Gauri Shinde and it dealt with an unusual storyline. That of a housewife enrolling herself to an English language course to get some respect from her husband and daughter.
Agneepath- the film was a remake of Amitabh Bachchan’s cult movie Agneepath. The film starred Hrithik, Sanjay Dutt and Priyanka and was the first highest opener of this year.
Ek Tha Tiger- This film marked the collaboration between Salman Khan and YRF for the first time. “New York” fame, director Kabir Khan directed this film that was a love-story with espionage as its backdrop.
Talaash- This film presents Aamir Khan after a long gap. The film has Kareena and Rani in pivotal roles. It is a suspense-thriller that was directed by Reema Kagti. Aamir plays a cop in the film who is all geared to unravel a mystery and in the course entangles with a prostitute played by Kareena messing up his marital life with Rani.
Jab Tak Hai Jaan- The film was the last directorial debut of Yash Chopra. It was a love-story archetypical of a Yash Chopra film that starred SRK, Katrina and Anushka.
Rowdy Rathore- This film was directed by Prabhu Deva and is an extension of the typical action films that is meant for the masses. It starred Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha in lead roles.
Barfi- This film was directed by Anurag Basu. It had Ranbir play deaf and mute and Priyanka play autistic. The film also had newcomer Ileana D’Cruz. The film portrayed a poignant tale of love between the characters of Ranbir and Priyanka.
Kahaani- The film that taught Bollywood that even women-centric films work at the box-office if the concept is strong. It belonged to the genre of suspense-thriller and was directed by Sujoy Ghosh and starred Vidya Balan.
