PFDC SUNSILK FASHION WEEK 2013

PFDC is a non-profit organization established itself as platform in the field of fashion design in Pakistan. It is working for the development and growth of the fashion industry while adhering to social responsible practices and promoting soft image of Pakistan all over world.

Pakistan Fashion Design Council organized and held SIXTH PAKISTAN SUNSILK FASHION WEEK 2013 a 4 days event FROM 26^TH to 29^th April 2013 in Lahore, the show was produced and choreographed by great HASSAN SHEHARYAR YASIN (HSY) who has cult status in Pakistan fashion industry, it is a general feeling that HSY stand out for his immaculate choreography. The front management by MAHEEN KARDAR ALI, backstage management by MARIA BAIG, logistics and operation by eleventh retail and digital support by MARIA.B and B Solutions. Foreign media management is being handled by Latitude, national PR by LOTUS Client Management & Public Relations, with SARA SHAHID of Sublime by Sara as the official spokesperson for PFDC.

The show opened with a range of prêt-a-porter catwalk presentations from Pakistani designers present in Lahore. Obviously, the fabulous fashion was the order of the day! The best of Karachi and Lahore designers showed on the same day, on the same platform, and witnessing it was a complete head rush. Hilary Alexander of The Independent sitting in the front row, MINI BANDRA of PFDC”S Delhi branch there too, Lahore socialites in KHADIJAH SHAH, Karachi fashionistas in SANIA MASKATIYA, carrying DEEPAK PERWANI’S “FARIDA GOES TO KHARADAR” bags! PDFC Sun-silk Fashion Week has it all and then some. The event was kicked off by photographer turned designer TAPU JAVERI with his latest Spring/Summer lines titled “TAPULICICIOUS.”

 SIXTH SUNSILK FASHION PAKISTAN WEEK Sponsored by SUNSILK, Co-sponsored by Bank Al- FALAH, ZONG, Pepsi Co. The Glamorous fashion week runways being rolled and was witnessed by large crowd. Spotlights go up and shine of high-heeled fashionista on the red carpet before cameras turn to the catwalk, where models walk out in collections that aim to determine fashion trends for this Summer/Spring season. Fashion week is a buzzing bubble of sorts, a space that isolates the fashion industry from everything except for the business of fashion and of course, critical acclaim. Designers aim to conceptualize powerful ideas that in turn translate to saleable merchandise. For every successful designer, fashion week equals glory.

                                  
The well-known and most famous 4 days of extreme elegance and glamour. Where the top designers from all over Pakistan dazzle the stage with their hard work and outstanding collections.

                                  

This year it has been amazing as always and as expected the Top models Nadia Hussain, carrying the outfits gracefully. As new models like ZAINAB (ZAINIE) also got a chance to show what they've got! Their smooth walk and perfect expressions shifted the gears to a whole new level of fashion. It looked stunning and added grace to all the outfits. Like every year, SANA SAFINAZ, HSY, ADNAN PARDESI, and all the top designers displayed their best work on the ramp. Their passion and creative sensibility could be seen in every piece! Every designer had a taste of his own, as the sequences moved on the names kept changing and taking the show to a whole new level!

This year the trends have changed a bit. Unlike last year, SHAFON and SILK cloths could be seen on the ramp instead of only lawn prints. This year just loosen up a bit as it's all about the loose cuts! Plain silks have taken-over the prints.

The grand finale went to HSY. Again I have seen better HSY collections,’ I LOOVE HSY’ T-shirts were some of the standouts of HYS’S, here he played with his monogram and actually made the self-indulgent embellishment work. More East than West, the show featured an army models screaming HSY louder than ever before! No it was not the ultimate HSY show, but when did he have time to work on his collection? While other designers were busy perfecting theirs, SHERYAR was helping them all put their best foot forward, first at Bridal Couture Week in Karachi, and then at PSFW in Lahore! The energy the man has is unbelievable. However, this PSFW was more about HSY the show director than HSY the designer and it rocked.

As we entered the red carpet and explored the place, there were stalls by HSY, LALA, Chen One (PAREESA lawn), Fluorescent, etc. They displayed amazing dresses. As Magnum and COSA NOSTRA, Le' Pizzeria were there too .Stepping inside the show arena, the Elite class, and most moderate folks were to be seen, as the media Photographers were all over the place, covering and capturing every bit of the Grand event! Every sequence took a 40 minute break before starting so that the audience could go to the red carpet and fresh up.

Certainly PFDC continues creating new stars, giving seasoned professionals something to do to carry on the tradition of the business of fashion. It’s quite wonderful to watch really something that keeps pulling you back for more, season after season. Here’s to the business of fashion-may the ethos bloom and grow. Finally, the Pakistan Fashion Design Council has put such a fantastic show on the road, now the audience will be expecting something more in forth coming events.  Everything was completely organized and completely secure as there were tight security measures. I totally enjoyed the whole thing, one word to describe it, "Amazing” xx
